Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start mowing my lawn?

Your lawn starts to wake up from dormancy (hibernation) as soon as it warms up in April.  Heavy growth is usually observed in May.

What height do you cut grass to?

We recommend maintaining your grass height between 2.5" and 3.0".  At these heights, you allow your grass to develop deeper root systems for healthier growth.  Keeping them at these heights also provides shade to the roots and aid in retaining moisture in the soil which means your lawn will require less watering during the hot months.

How often should I cut my grass?

Mowing frequency all depends on how fast your grass is growing.  Ideally, you only want to remove, at most, 1/3 of the total grass height in one cut.  When there is a lot of moisture in the ground, your grass will grow at a faster rate which will require more frequent cutting.

In general, if your grass is irrigated or if you water your lawn regularly, we recommend cutting it weekly.  During dry months or if you don't water your grass regularly, we recommend cutting it every other week.

What can I do to keep my lawn green and healthy?

A good cleanup at the beginning of the season can help set your lawn to a great start.  Regular watering, fertilization, and mowing can all contribute to a happy lawn.  A strong lawn also means that it can ward off unwanted weeds which means less chemicals used for weed control. 

If your lawn gets a lot of foot traffic, consider getting core aeration done either in spring or in the fall.

How long and how often should I water my grass?

Longer but less frequent watering can help your lawn to develop deeper root system as well.  When you're watering, water slowly at a rate that your lawn can absorb to avoid runoff.  

I need someone to mow my lawn while I am on vacation, can you do that?

Yes, we can! We offer vacation coverage so that you don't come home to an overgrown lawn.

I am selling my house, can you maintain the yard until it sells?

Totally!  You have more important things to do than yard work.  Keep it sale-ready with our help to make the best impression for your potential buyers.

Do you offer fertilizer treatment & weed control too?

Yes!  We are licensed and insured to provide these services.  We offer a full season fertilizer program and lawn weed control as an add-on to your mowing program.

Where do the clippings go?

It all depends on what the status of your lawn is when we come for a visit.  If it's too long, we collect all clippings and dispose them in your green bin.  Most of the time, we can mulch the clippings to return the nutrients back into the soil.

My grass has become overgrown, can you mow it?

Of course!  Depending on the height, we will have to make multiple passes with our mower.  This means that it takes a longer time to complete than your average maintenance mow.  Because of this, there will be a one-time surcharge depending on how tall the grass is.

It is raining today, will you still come to mow my lawn?​

If there is rain (or snow) in the forecast, we will make every effort to complete your service until it is no longer possible for us to do so.  During these instances, we will reschedule your service for the next day or until the weather permits.

What is your cancellation policy?

While we would be sad to see you go, we understand that changes may happen that would affect your need of our services.  If this happens, please give us a 30-day notice to cancel your services.
